The Hive"A purpose built garden workshop, bursting with unique features" Following a call from Norfolk based textile business, Textile Spirit, we were asked to build a workshop studio to be used all year round. This design required emphasis on storage, work space and lighting so, after a comprehensive design process with several re-jigs in the layout, The Hive was conceived!
This building was built at exactly 7.8m x 3.8m, meaning it was just under 30m (Therefore avoiding the costly implications of Full Buildings Regs!) and, thanks to our signature curved roof, less than 2.5m in height, which kept the building within Permitted Development. This all made for a sizeable building with a less sizeable planning process! The interior includes a solid oak floor, a dado rail panelling finish and a vaulted curved ceiling. It includes double glazed French doors and two huge 1770mm x 900mm windows on opposite ends of the building, 10 metres of solid beech worktops with curved corners and a double steel sink with under counter storage. The whole building is wired for mains electricity and features fluorescent lighting, mood lighting, LED task lighting and under floor heating in addition to a wood burning stove. The outside it a charming larch feather edge, painted in pale blue. We created bespoke furniture to suit our customers needs, which included a collapsible beech worktop with height adjustable trestles and a large 4m by 2.3m shelf cabinet with full length sliding doors- All uniquely designed and built by us. This space can be built in a range of sizes and styles, from alternative finishes, different doors and windows, or a tiled pitched roof!
